Prototypes and Sculpture
One of the really cool things about 3D software is that its possible to build pretty much anything you can imagine, or get someone to do it for you. Using a process called rapid prototyping it's now also possible to realise things in a physical form. This is particularly useful for sculpting miniatures. Digital Sculpture has many advantages over traditional analogue methods, most notably; speed, accuracy and flexibility. Objects can easily be re-worked, scaled and perfectly duplicated in a way not possible with traditional methods. Perfect symmetry is no longer an issue and edges can be as sharp as your caster and can make them, leading to very clean, detailed looking miniatures. I have worked on digital sculpture for the last two years and I have included some of my favourite pieces on this page. I offer a speedy, accurate service, please contact me if you require a quote. As well as duplicating designs from existing plans I offer a design service and can provide concept art, plans for your sculptors and work from provided themes and references to achieve a spectacular end result. As an added bonus, I can also generate your box / instruction artwork from the digital models by applying appropriate lighting, textures and effects. Everything from exploded technical diagrams for your manuals to full-blown battle scenes for your box artwork can be achieved. I can also take your premade models and paint and render images with them if required.

Carrier Built for: Nix step I was commissioned last year to design and build a miniature with 2 specific functions, to look cool and also work as a type of float for fishing enthusiasts. Yes thats right, this ship actually helps you catch fish. It underwent hydrodynamic testing and design refinement to give it a unique motion through water, that is appealing to both human and fish kind. The concept sketches went through several stages of analysis by my client and changes were made based on the feedback given. This refinement process continued right until the completion of the model in order to acheive the pefect result. An unusual project and the function of the design placed many limits on what the design could potentially look like. It was fun to work within those limits to come up with a working, and yet still appealing looking design.
Nova-Class This prototype is of my own design and is currently for sale The prototype is 80mm in length and features multiple parts, it has also been partly hollowed to reduce RP costs and weight of the final production castings.
Junila Fleet Built for: Ninja Magic One of the key features of this fleet are the interchangable components, engines from one ship can be placed on another and so on, giving the customer the opportunity to easily customise the design to their tastes. Special care had to be taken to ensure that all peices are compatible but again its something thats easily acheived in a digital environment. Junila Freighter, 50mm in length Junila Battleship, 80mm in length Kikoku Fleet Built for: Ninja Magic Again this fleet uses interchangable parts, focussing mainly on gun turrets which are also built to be 'posable'.
