There are some very nice free comic lettering fonts (and ones geared to SFX and titles) at
Blambot Comic Fonts and Lettering . I use 'Letter-O-Matic' the most, but 'Webletterer' and 'Digital Strip' are good looking general purpose lettering fonts as well.
