My name is Jeff and I'm new to 3d modeling. It actually started out as an accident. I'm one of those people who likes to do video editing of existing episodes of trek to come out with some really interesting stuff. My current project is a differant ending to Voyager's "End Game" Which involves taking the crash sequence from "Timeless" and redoing all of the CGI shots (big task for a newbie

)
I've been using 3ds for the last 3 weeks and I'm finding myself getting better at some of it's aspects rather quickly, having tried modeling my own planet from an assemblege of tutorials (it almost looks right i think?) My little project for fun is heading on the right track but I've still got a lot to learn especially on the modeling aspects. I would like to get to the point where I could model my own ships/planets and such for the animations for the Trek variant video's I'd like to create.
Mainly I'm in it for the fun, but also I have a friend who is a professional story board artist (a credited one!) who has taken an interest in what I can do and has been testing my animation skills and slowly he's nudging me in the right direction. I've been a reader of the forums off and on for a while but never actually joined because I thought that I'd never be able to do any of this, I've managed to surprise myself and thought that perhaps with peers who can do this type of stuff quite well my knowledge would grow a little better.
You guys look to be a great community and I hope that one day I can contribute some great works that others will enjoy as well.
So in short (after that long spiel) be prepared for questions from me popping up lol.
