more progress. I moved the crew cabins to the other end to make more room in the "operations" area. added a galley/crew's mess and an alcove opposite for a transporter platform. also put in the dining table and service. that new door down the steps at the far end is for the captain's cabin.
I am having some difficulty with the walls/partitions at either end of the upper deck and by the galley. lots of smoothing errors and I am at a loss to fix them. the partitions are built the same way all the others were, and the faces are all exactly flat, so I can't even figure out *why* they're pinching. any ideas?
also, a sketch of future building:
cargo holds: are on elevators and can be loaded from above (docked) or below (landed). will also be accessible in flight from the service corridor belowdecks.
belowdecks: I will probably model the access lifts and corridor, but not much equipment.
warp sustainer engines: will be port & starboard as suggested by
Pearse based on the glowy things in
Andy Probert's painting. They will be capable of low warp independently and will be able to sustain high warp, with limited maneuverability, if undocked at those speeds. (Warp capability is probably the most significant departure I will make from our "cannon" knowledge of the captain's yacht.)
