I dunno. JJ Abrams has a lot of respect for Star Trek, i think he"ll do a good job of breathing some life back into the old girl. Some changes i would like to see would be a rotating nacelle inner-structure, like on Gabe's design. A few more modern elements would be nice as well, perhaps a slightly "bumpier" hull texture, and a pearlescent paint job (you came pretty close) with a faint aluminum coating to give it a little bit of a reflective sheen. But its a good job anyway, would like to see those finishing touches you mentioned.
