wow looking good! ive just finished brushing up my very first 3d/photoshop models for my new profile sheets. Just need a really cool future font for the layout was wondering if you have any ideas for this type of text. And also to get the shiny effect on your panels do you use a gradient effect overlaying them or do you use a lighing technique? I just havent been able to duplicate the way you do it, very frustrating lol! I know you dont use photoshop but i assume it has similar functions to the software you use?

How about this; I'll do a step-by-step tutorial thingy for the one I'm working on and email it to you. It's much easier than one might imagine.

It's hard to tell but I think it does change the width of the center in different spots depending on the version.

Just to be pedantic, if it's already the deadliest, how could anything be deadlier?

Does the page for the new frigate say it has a sensor package that can see beyond sensor range? If you're seeing beyond sensor range, then that new range is the maximum sensor range. Also, I don't think sensor hanger is right since hangers are usually a large empty space for storying other craft. Technically, maximum sensor range on a planet is how far you can see before the horizon gets in the way, you can get around that but it's the main obstacle. In space, the limit would be sensor resolution but for detecting things like exhaust plumes, you can have really low resolution and still detect those as long as it is all happening within the radius of solar system. Actually, the range is much further than that but that's just being conservative.

Okay, it's not a sensor but a comm's package? If you're sending a signal that distance, then you should be able to use that medium as a sensor and make sensor range at least that long.

The new frigate looks excellent. I really like orienting the defensive missiles vertically this time, although horizontally does fit the weapons layouts used so far better. You know, two cannons, one top, one bottom, would be a huge improvement. Hull extensions aren't unusual, at least with aircraft, it's been done with ships too, I think.

What about a ship that has its sides pretty much covered in stacked rows of defensive missiles facing outward?

Thanks all! It's really encouraging to get feedback.

@ Major Diarrhia
My crap spelling strikes again! It's supposed to be 'hangar' not 'hanger' and the 'single UL-99' it mentions is a small, manned utility craft that acts much like a ships helicopter today. Part of what I wanted to do with this was go with the conceit that is it is written in that time period, a lot of terms and references to ships or places would be familiar to the reader. Confusing now I know, but hopefully things will get easier as it project fleshes out.

And I'm really looking forward to seeing your work Liam! I'll have something put together for you by monday at the latest.

Zach

I had fun with the paintjobs on this one, my personal favorite is the old school continental scheme.
