Re-reimagined BSG

Something to get me back into practice since I've been pretty inactive for most of the last year with eye trouble. The premise is the general shape of the old Galactica, but incorporating details and the feel of the new one. The pods retract, then the openings are partially covered by parts that rotate down, as shown in the rough sketch of the end views which incorporate some bits cut and pasted from Cobywan's schematics since I haven't drawn end on views of my own. I doubt I'll finish off the end views, I drew them just to get the geometry for the pods.

What happens if the pods get stuck?

(Although, that would only ever happen on Star Trek!)

Looks like a new episode idea. The Rag Tag Fleet stumbles upon it adrift in space. Love it... Keep them coming!!!

Belly guns....hummm... Well, there's the center keel structure that comes down between the pods. Its wide enough to put twin turrets. Turrets could also be mounted on the bottom of the pods. Keel mounts would be masked slightly to the sides, but so are the ventral guns on the new BSG. As for the pods getting stuck, I never said they were a good idea, I was just copying the fact that the new BSG does it, so this one will. Personally I don't like the idea of the retractable pods and have been toying with a fan fic about a damaged battlestar with one pod stuck closed. Interestingly enough, I was rewatching the miniseries yesterday and when Galactica jumps to Ragnar, they make a big deal of the pods retracting, but when they actually show her jumping, the pods are clearly still out!

Don't let me stop you! I have no plans to make any 3D version, since I don't have any software and wouldn't know how to use it. I'm somewhat of a luddite, happily trudging along in MS Paint.
