again it a US show. which is why they placed it in the US. This was mention in TOS and TMP.
Now if the Preidents office was shown in TOS it would have also been in the US.

It was only beacuse everything went PC in the 80's and the fact that the show was big internaly. (Not sure on Galatic, will find out when we get out there. ) That TNG had the President office in Paris.

Now if you look at today armed forces. their HQ are full of paper pushes. Yes the Joints Chifs has an office there. but they don't spend to much time there as they are either in Parlament/ Sanate. or traveling around their Country or places of opperations.

If we take that into account with ST, the head of Starfleet and the heads of the different area of starfleet would spend most of their time in Paris in the Federation Govermental building. if they where not there. they would be at the main facuilty of their area. Medical, science, engineering and so forth. They would spend maybe one day a week at Starfleet HQ, or given the size of the federeation and the time need to travel between planets, it could even be less time.

The earth-based staff are based out of Starfleet HQ in San Francisco, and unless they have important business in paris or in orbit, most of their time is spent in SF. If they need to travel to the presidents office, they can use a transporter and be there in minutes.

But i can change the plaque to "Ministry" if you'd like

In the US. So it actually is US-based. :P

Only the Presidents office lasts in Paris, France.
And the Division of Planetary Operations is based in the city of Lisbon - Portugal ( my city )

Lcars

Hi everybody! I just registered a little while ago and this is my first post.

Anyways, I was looking around the formus and i saw your LCARS thread -- all 89 pages of it near the top, and I thought to myself, OK, I'll skim through it, see what his stuff is like....

89 pages later.... I believe the most accurate decsription of my reaction is: awesome. With a side of awesome. "LCARS God" dosen't even begin to cover it. I do have a few comments/questions, though:

- The Romulan PADD from waaaay back looks a bit too much like the Starfleet padd. Perhaps it could have had a different shape to make it look a bit more "alien"?

- The Budapest MSD has a unique look to it, and I really like it, but I was wondering, what did you envision the rest of the console being shaped like?

- And lastly, the Starbase MSD. It seems to me that a Starbase's MSD would be too huge to fit on one panel, so I was thinking instead you could have a big, wall-sized screen (like NASA mission control), and the starbase schematic would be cut into sections and placed side-by-side (if that makes any sense).
I only mentioned it cause, from the size of the buttons, it looks like the MSD is about the size of a door, and considering those "little" towers at the top are the size of a small city, perhaps something a bit more...grand should be in order.

Anyways these are just minor quibbles, feel free to ignore them.
Tremendous work, and I can't wait to see what your next project will be.

Hello All.

Thanks guys for the reply on my birthday.

Hey carlg. Thanks for the reply.

The padd is based on a real romulan padd used on the show. The reason it looks starfleet is because a starfleet padd was used as a prop. (I am sure that was because of time or money)

I just saw it, the same as any other trek console. I was working more on the style of the graphics. I was trying to do a version of the graphics from ST6 in the TNG/VOY era. Some people have said the MSD Background looks like a PSP. I did not base it on that.

I did see that MSD as a center graphic and have other graphics to the right and left of it. I like to think of the MSD as Better versions of Maps from the Mall. You will never see all the details, but it helps you find the important parts of the ship or station. You can always hit a button and zoom in, or have a subgraphic pop up.

As for a update...I will be posting Voyager's Pooltable soon.
