Okay, here's the Viper one, it's a weapons stowage chart. I'm still working on it, I have some more weapons I want to add, plus cleaning it up a bit.

Nice. Looking forward to actually see the ordnance you're designing.
Quite realistic, i think.

You mean you still practice teleportation? How quaint! Now, if you got yourself a decent forklift truck...

Thanks Sanjurjo. I got some tweaking to do with that pic and the new Viper blocks, as well as the Hawk. I'll hopefully have stuff to post tomorrow.

I tweaked the text placement and wording in the Viper Mk I ESS pic and added the two light guns to the Hawk nose, as well as modifying it a bit too. The last pic is the HD-60/b Long Spear Air-to-air missile in both the original line drawing and a quick MSpaint color scheme since I'm on my non-photoshop laptop. The /a is similar but has forward fins to, plus the rear ones are larger. It also lacks the thrust vectoring ring at the rear. The /b was designed to be smaller so it could also be carried internally.

Since it's BSG day, here's a couple pics. I updated the Viper block side pic again, adding the recon nose to it. The other pic is a three-view of the Mk I-10 configured for a CAP or Intercept with full AAM payload.

Enjoy!

EDIT: Yeah, I know the top view missiles are recessed back too far, I'll fix them.
EDIT2: Fixed

Hi guys.
I'm a brand new n00by (as you can see it's my first post here).

Talos, over the past half hour I've zipped through this threat and I must say -
Your stuff is AMAZING!
Excellent work all around!
Both the drawings and the descriptions (I enjoyed those especially )

I have one suggestion - rotate your missiles to align with the wings as well as the pylons - it will unable you to shorten the missile pylons...

I toyed around (i.e. picture-shredded , hope you wont take offense ) with your missile loaded Viper for an example of what I mean..

Thanks for the compliment centurion!

I thought about that with the missiles. The only reason I hadn't yet is that in real aircraft, missiles can drop from the pylon before launching, some don't though, of course. I've been thinking of angling them, and I'll definately have to with the non-clipped earlier Long Spear missile. I really need to think how to shorten those pylons, angling will probably be the solution, without going into a complicated bend, at least.

Anyway, thanks for the critique, I'll look into it and post what I come up with. Finals are this coming week and aren't too bad, the bad week was last week, hell week, which isn't helped by the fact that I've had a cold and sore throat the past week.

As long as you don't rotate the pylons more the 45 degrees relative to the horizon, missiles will have no problem falling off them straight down.

If you do rotate the pylons more then 45 degrees you have 2 options:
1. explosive bolts - as long as your note pushing the weapon straight up, and explosive bolt can push it far enough of the hull so it can ignite safely.

2. these are space fighters after all... and nothings "falls" in space... so it doesn't matter... (at best, since the fighter is moving, any thing released off of it will "drift" away do to the inertia and vibration).

Thanks man, it's more annoying than anything else, I'll be fine.

Explosive bolts might work, I'm taking into account that the fighters will have to fight in atmosphere too so I'm factoring in aerodynamics into it as well. Dropping without using explosive bolts or something would impart an unwanted roll into the missile when it dropped from the pylon. I'm going to look into the bolts definately, thanks for the suggestion.
