I continued working on the Japanese Tomcat. It represents 255 Kokutai of the Japanese Marine Self Defense Force (JMSDF) operating off the carrier Asuka. I'm still adding in the small signage markings. I reduced the size of the jpg, it should show up better on most moniters so it's easier to look at the whole plane. I also fiddled with the jpg compression settings.

Good start! One suggestion at this point is that in your Layers controls, you select the top layer and set its mode to multiply. That would get rid of the problems with removing all of the white from that layer - I can see some issues with the line going across the roundel. Also, you wouldn't have to worry about making anything transparent at all!

Thanks guys.

I do have the top layer in multiply, BJ. I'm still learning and fiddling with the layer controls, but I did find that setting after a good hour of searching for it. It was right in front of me.

This is what I have it set as right now. Any advice is appreciated, I'm also starting to fiddle with trying to shade.

Well, that'll certainly strike fear and intimidate whoever they engage in combat. Seriously, how can you NOT fear something that's a fur covered herbivore that's smaller than the average house-hold cat?

Actually, I might be a little uncomfortable dogfighting with someone who's confident enough to display an insignia like that on their tail.

That particular insignia was worn by a VF-0A in Macross Zero and I thought it was nifty, so I put it in. Oh, the high visibility tail fins are for leader identification and are color coded, eg. red for this squadron, blue for another.

To each their own I guess. But if I ever have a personal combat aircraft, I'm going to be sure something menacing goes on the tail.
