Nice work though there is an inconsistency between the top and side views.

The bits at the back with the four orange boxes (impulse engines?) are incorrect on one of the views - You have them as horizontal in the side view but vertical in the top view so they don't match up

USMC #2 - Now finished!

Yes, they're the impulse engines. And that is not an inconsistency, they are correct. Though it's probably one of the few parts of this drawing I'm not entirely happy with.

They look the same in both views because they follow the round contour of the hull and they're equidistant apart at 45 degrees from the center point. Trust me, I agonized over that. It was one of the most painful parts of this drawing. A tail end view would illustrate what I mean better.

What I'll probably do is push the dorsal view boxes toward each other slightly to get the "spine" and "flanks" of the ship to meet them in the same place in both views. I'll make that correction when I have time but it won't really effect the overall lines of the ship. I'll probably also provide a tail end sketch of the secondary hull to illustrate why they look the same.

Coolio!

Here's a slight update. Modified the impulse engines just a bit to get the shape across a little better visually, though the overall exterior shape is exactly the same. Also, moved them toward the centerline about 5 pixels each in the dorsal view to correct a very minor discrepancy.

And here's a quicky working sketch of the butt end of the engineering hull so y'all can get a better idea of how that all fits together.

In that area below the hangar is there another airlock/hatch or cargo bay doors?

Cargo doors and I was thinking something along the lines of the 1701 with the red warning outline but doors that lean a little more toward the look of the NX-01. Oh, and that little nubby bit down there in the starboard view is a floodlight above the cargo bay doors.

Oh, and keep in mind that that sketch I did for the rear is nowhere near the final look (as if it's not obvious) so there's a little wiggle room for details there.

*Very* nice work there, Aethernaut! And I didn't have a problem seeing how the impulse engines were arranged before. I like how you've included that warp field/impulse deflection crystal/whatever dome at the front of the secondary hull. That detail has been there from the beginning, but I only recently noticed it! You've certainly got a good eye for adding in a lot of detail without cluttering a design.

You gotta be one damned skilled to pilot a shuttle into that hangars while the ship's under impulse power. LOL

Looking great, especially the bridge graphic.

Heh. Well, yeah, but I kind of modified it with those heat shield looking extended bits from the tradition fanon (fan canon) version of the Daedalus which just has them on the flat butt-end of the tin can that is it's hull. Again, I wanted to stick somewhat to the base arrangement and proportions.

Thanks! Maybe more later this week as I'm moving back to that drawing.

Well, the impulse drive should probably be deactivated for any shuttle activity

BTW: where exactly are the aft torpedo tubes located?
