EDA-40A Warhawk II

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...da-40a-top.gif

EDA-40A Warhawk II
(Special Electronic/Data, Drone/Robot Control, Attack)

Coordinates and commands in-theater Autonomous Robotic Combat Air Vehicles (ARCAVs)
Conducts Intrusive Data Denial and Manipulation on enemy network systems
Attacks targets via Offensive Algorithms (viruses)
Disables targets electronic systems with weaponized microwave transmissions

Features include but are not limited too:

Active Electronic Scanned Array
Radar, Weaponized Microwave, Data Link
Non-jammable Frequency Tunable Radome
Conformal Array Surfaces
Radar, Communication, Data Link, Weaponized Microwave, Radar Warning, Electronic/Data Countermeasures

Exoskeletal Turbofan Engines
Supercriuse, Thrust Vector, Low Noise, Low Infra-red Signature

Electrochromatic Canopy
Data Immersion For Instrumentation and Control
Visor Display, Canopy Imbedded Look Anywhere Display

Chines positive nose lift
Leading Edge Extensions vortex generation enabling high angle of attack agility
Aero-Diamond Planform low observation and high altitude
Differential Ruddervators for increased agility
Adaptive Compliant Wing shape morphing for airfoil optimizing and control surfaces

Paint schemes are also absent identifying marking of nationality, unit, or serial number to deny enemy optoelectronic intelligence gathering. Aircraft use Intelligent Identification and Recognition to share this information with one another, and ground crews when queried via hand-held data network devices.
With radar ranges near 200 miles, stealth, and service ceiling over 80,000 feet, air combat closely approximates submarine warfare. Radar contact is "slippery" and easily lost. If your adversary knows he or she's been "painted", the 'dogfight' happens in cyberspace as both battle to take over the other's systems to confuse sensors or shut down critical systems. Weaponized microwave beams are used to burn out sensors on enemy aircraft or missiles. Dermal conformal arrays give the Warhawk II three-hundred and sixty degree spherical coverage and can detect and attack from any attitude making missile hits against it extremely difficult.
Carrying no conventional ordinance, the EDA-40 uses weaponized microwave transmissions while loitering at high altitude to disrupt or damage communications, data networks, or power plant/supply without physical collateral damage. ARCAVs are armed with munitions when a target needs to be destroyed.

Nice. I'd love to see it in a paint scheme.

Thanks. Some of these technology (radar systems and cyberspace warfare) is taken from articles published in Aviation Week and Space Technology. Engine concept was discovered on a search of propulsion systems.

THe son of YF-23, I like it, needs a little work, but I like it. Might be better as a Boeing Northrup product though.

Hey great start I always thought the YF-23 was a beautiful aircraft, and can't wait to see what you do with this design.

On another note..your name seems very familiar to me....Have you done some star trek stuff in the past?

Holy crap, it's Paul! I haven't seen you poke your head up on the net in a long time. In fact, I can't remember where exactly it was I interacted with you before....

Interesting concept there. I agree it looks very similar to the YF-23. Are the tail planes arranged like the YF-23 and McDonnell's old JSF concept, with them angling slightly upward, or is it completely horizontal? Also, the service ceiling seems a bit high, since most jet aircraft don't go much above 50k. The only one I can think of that went that high was the SR-71.

I chose Vought, because I work there in NDI.

Yes, I used to do Trek. Way, way back in the day.

FL80 might be a bit high, but the F-22's reported ceiling is 65,000 ft. However, pressure altitude is almost never equal to actual feet above sea level, and most stats that give altitude are giving pressure altitude, which is an altitude based on ideal conditions at sea level.

I'm using YF-23 inspired ruddervators.

I know this design doesn't pop with originality, but I read some interesting articles in AW & ST last year and began to wonder what the jet might look like. As I'm going for more realism than fiction, I didn't think that straying to far from what already works--the F-22, F-35, and YF-23--would be a bad idea.

I might need to give the engines a little more girth.
