This has always been Starfleets' weakness.Starfleet created combat ships to fight the Borg, the 'Monarch' design looks like a combat ship and this is the design the movies should have had.Love the dark grey color scheme,it is very intimidating. Both designs of yours are great,I just don't think it is a step backwards,it is just in keeping with the Soverign class, but bigger and better, nice work.
At least I have the two view picture to admire, thanks for that.
Live long and Prosper Josh.
The Discovery Class Has 12 Quantum Torpedo Launchers, 22 phaser banks, and 40 point defense pulse phasers which can double as combat phasers. It also has dual layer regenerative shielding, ablative hull armor, and two newly developed phased energy cannons. (details as they come) So I assure you, Jedi44, this ship is designed to defend not only herself but others as well. As for the previous design, I still feel it was too aggressive, thats why I went with the new style. Starlfeet needs to get out of war and back into piece. However, if you like combat ships, you may like my upcoming Aegis-Class Battlecruiser. So keep an eye open.

Aegis Class-Battlecruiser, sounds interesting! I have a feeling its going to be one aggressive looking Starship.

Very nice.

You may want to proof read though; I can see at least one typo (Academy spelt as Academey under the Ship Support and Design bit)

...still interested in the Monarch design....not saying anything about replacing the Discovery. I was thinking that the Monarch would be a sister ship to the new Discovery....though it's a different design, I know.

MIJ1988 does have talent for Federation Starships, I'm looking forward to seeing what else that he has underneath that cap of his.
