Daedalus Sketches

Hey everybody,
I had this idea for a Daedalus-class design rattling aound in my head, and I finally got it down on paper the other day.

I had the idea that it would be a lot smaller than the "real" Daedalus -- say, about 90 metres long, with around 15-20 crewmembers.
I was also thinking that the earliest warp reactors would probably have as much shielding as a nuclear powerplant does today, so I made it that all the living space is in the sphere, and the engineering hull is taken up completely by the warp core and fuel tanks (It would also be easier to jettison if anything went wrong).

Main Engineering is in this little section at the other end of the neck, overlooking the warp core:

Let me know what you think -- It's just a start, and I'm very open to shifting things around...

Thanks to Aethernaut, Evil_genius_180, and Vektor for inspiration.

I agree, this is very impressive, it reminds me of a movie concept sketch.

Soran77: Oh, my! I was going to make one myself (eventually), but I can't wait to see how yours turns out -- what program are you using, by the way?

Sketchup. Gonna get a beter renderer for it though, the on board rendering software blows.. there are great plugins out there for the ruby console.
