Just for kicks, here's a look at the hanger bay area and the final scale for the ship. The Bow elevation also shows the bay doors in the open position. Since i really don't feel like taking the time tonight to calculate the final scale of the ship, I leave it to major D or anyone else who wishes to give it a go. I'll do another scale chart soon.

The updates are minor today, since the aft elevation is just about complete. The Nacelle pylons for the upper war nacelles are in place in all relevant views. I'm pretty happy with them, but I think they highlight the lack of hull detailing (i.e. panels) so I'm going to have a go at that next. As is obvious, I've done away with the hull plating on the flight pod. I think I'm going to go with the typical grid seen on the nacelle pylons. The old design just looked to piecemeal.

Lets see, is there anything else... Oh yeah, the shuttle bay is in on the aft view and has been resized and such in the dorsal view to match. I've also made small modifications here and there that are too minor to really mention. I've also made lighting adjustments to get a slightly more 3-D effect. Not that it helps much, but I think its better.

I suddenly realized today as I finished up for the night that she's almost finished. For the first time, I felt like I could actually see this project coming to an end. After, what, two years, I had begun to feel like this would never end. Of course, after the ship is finished, I'll have to finish the MSD and the Bridge/CIC, Viper, Raptor, and anyhting else that comes up. Wow, I think I just burst my own bubble. Well, I have two more days off, so hopefully I can get the final details done and have a completed schematic sheet for the U.S.S. Galactica, by Thanksgiving. We'll see. More to come!
The U.S.S. Galactica looks awesome, I'm glad to see that this project is almost completed. Two years is a long time and is worth the wait to see the final ship in a 4-view Ortho schematics. Looking forward to seeing the Galactica MSD's, Bridge/CIC, The Viper class fighter and other Galactica projects completed as well.
It won't be long before you'll be restarting the USS Pegasus thread again!!!

BTW-I like the Cut out orthos view of the repair hanger bay on the Galactica. I'm curious too on what the biggest Federation starship can fit inside that hanger bay.

I'm glad you like it, blackbird. Its strange being close to the need of the exterior design phase. When I started, I had no plans to even bother with the interior or any okudagrams. It was just an idea I had one day that I wanted get out of my head. Little did I know...

Here is a finalized scale Chart. Most of the smaller Federation starships fit inside the hanger bay. I think even the Akira-class would fit, but I have to check in the top view to make sure. As it stands, the Galactica's total length comes to 1,680 meters, or 1.68 kilometers. Its a happy medium between the previous sizes.

I'll begin working on the MSD today, and hopefully it will be finished in the next week or two. I'm going to be working full time between now and the new year, so I probably won't have much time to work on this again after this week, so I'll try to get as much done on the other side projects that I can. The Viper is probably the most neglected, so maybe I'll have a go at that in the next few days as well.

As a side note, I've had to clear out some of the old updates to make room for new ones. For anyone new to the project, I will post a summary of the entire project soon.

I like the starship size chart. Its nice to see the USS Galactica in formation with other post TNG era starships. I can't believe how gigantic she is.

Looking forward for the finalized MSD's and the Viper. Keep up the good work your doing man.

Thanks, blackbird! It's great to actually have something complete. Now I need to get cracking on the other side projects, and then I'll move onto the Pegasus.

Jonny, How many Battlestar class starships are going to be commissioned.
Do you have the names and the registry numbers of the other Battlestar starships?
