Aerial Gunboat Back in the day, I used to play a RPG called Space:1889 (any other old timers remember it?). It was, I think, the grand daddy of the steampunk genre. Here is a WIP of one of the aerial gunboats used on mars by the british empire. I did a rough model in sketchup as a guide and am tracing it in paintshop. Still have a long way to go yet, and as always, C+C encouraged.

Onward! To Mars, rule Britannia! Can't wait to see more. I've often thought that Sketchup provides the perfect tool for doing rough perspective work for vector drawing but I haven't tried it yet.

Added rope railings, basic texturing, rivets and one of her majesty's officers for scale, also lightened it up but I think it looks too faded now and will probably revert to the darker one in the first post. I still have to add weathering and detail around the pilot house and the entire rear of the ship. Oh, and you should really give sketchup a go Aethernaut, it's sooo much easier just to build a model rather than laying it out in the traditional 2d method. I had trouble wrapping my head around it at first, and I'm very much still learning, but it is really handy.

Looking good! I've toyed around with Sketchup but never done any real projects. Perhaps I'll sit down with it this weekend if I find some time. In the ancient past when I worked for a game company I used to do a lot of modeling so I'm familiar with the concepts but I haven't really done any serious work in a long time.

This is a good looking ship so far. I haven't played this RPG, but it does look interesting.

Prob'ly not. In fact I sort of lost interest in this one and am putting it on the back burner.
