| BSG: Trident Hmm, think about it: wherever we come, people have the tendency to hide certain aspects of running projects. We have Area 51, Star Trek has got Section 31. Now, building on this hypothesis, lets just assume for a moment that there is a secret division in Battlestar Galactica. One that might just have survived the Cylon attacks; simply put because the Cylons never even knew that it existed! This Division 3, as I have come to call it, uses Colonial technology to create new Battlestars, test them, and then silently passing the design on to the normal military. We can, for example, assume that the Type 7 was tested there, and that it was there that they found out you could get smashed by the sheer power the ship has. When the navigational software from Dr. Baltar was introduced in the fleet, Division 3, ofcourse, received copies of it. But instead of just using them, they tinkered with it for their newest project: the Mk. VIII Strike Viper, and the new strike variant of the Battlestar, the Strikestar Trident. The Strike Viper is equipped with a FTL drive (albeit small), which enables it to persue enemy craft farther than normal Vipers could do. The Strikestar, on the other hand, would function as a base from which these ships launched, and as such was in a role different than ordinary Battlestars: it would just hop in, release it's strike fighters, give them support, retreive it's ships and then hop out again. In this function, it isn't made to make long journey's, it's resources are sparse and those availlable are usualy meant to upgrade, support, or build new Strike Vipers, and recreational facilities for it's crew are at a minimum. Now, after the war broke out again, Division 3 sent the Trident's sister ship Pax, which was in a much less finished state than the Trident herself, on a colission course with a Basestar who stumbled across the planet on which D3 was building the new Strikestar, and subsequently hopped out of the system, it's hull finished for the most part (but not completely), and a small completement of 14 Strike Vipers, and has been able to fend off Cylon attacks thanks to the fact that the engineers made improvements over the original Baltar Code, which probably accidently ended up in removing some of the backdoors build into it. So... C&C would be appreciated It's far from finished, but the initial idea is there |

| Nice job Borgman, the backstory is so similar to the US Air Force with Lockheed "Skunk Works" and it makes perfect sense. The design for the Viper Mk VIII looks fantastic, that is clearly the next logical step in the Viper family of fighters. The Strikestar looks like a very good design, however I would suggest, that you incorporate more of a look from the Mecury Class Battlestar Pegasus and not so much fron the Atlantia Class Battlestar Galactica, considering that Atlantia Class, according to the show, has been in service for nearly 60+ years and the entire class was due to be retired just prior to the new Cylon attack. If you do that, it would look like the state of art experimental vessel that it should be. Sorry for the comments, I realy like your work and I hope to see more of it in the future, you are one tallented individual. |

| It was never spoken in dialogue in the new or the old show, but in the PR material and various books the Galactica is refered to as being of the Atlantia Class. The same holds true for the Pegasus being from the Mercury Class of Battlestars. I have no doubt, that in the future someone in the show will sneak in the the Battlestar Class leaders either in diologue or as part of the set dressing, the same way that STTNG established that the Enterprise was part of the Galaxy Class by printing it on the master systems display in engineering. |

| BSG:Trident sorry to say this but in the old series "Atlantia" was a sistership to "Pacifica"(first novel) and that they were older, larger and bulkier than Big "G" and it was never wrote or said anywhere as to what class Galactica was.(note: fannon says she's a "Columbia" class)(note 2: in tos "Pegasus" was an older sistership to "Galactica" and the sixth novel referred to them as "Battlestar class" ships which would suggest that there is no shipclass name for bstars) there has yet to be anything said, seen or published for the tns as to what class Big "G" is. when it was decided to bring in the "Pegasus" it was agreed that she would be a more modern BStar so they create a new class (Mercury) to explain the differences. |

| SFM Guru | Thats a neat design there. To the backstory... somewhere in first season of New BSG it is said, that actually following someone through FTL jump isnt possible so an FTL persuit vessel doesnt make sense if they dont know where the prey jumped to. an ftl equipped attack fighter would be more plausible there. at least if you want to keep it cannon. esle just ignore me ![]() Atlantia class? Mercury class? Columbia class? Who cares?! they are all battlestars. I think being a battlestar is definite. Who cares what class it is, when its quite clear that it'll beat your ass... at least if your not a cheating cylon |

| Allright guys, I'm back I started with the 3D model as you probably have noticed but I am unhappy with it, so that one's on a side track. In the meanwhile I do have the new Viper Bomber, however, and the revised Mk.8 is only waiting to be scanned so expect updates soon |

| Mm... not bad designs... this last MK.VIII looks like it could destroy a Basestar by itself! ![]() The Trident is also nice, looks like a predatorial bird. Ready to strike. And your story is not bad at all, maybe, who knows... |
| You mean you still practice teleportation? How quaint! Now, if you got yourself a decent forklift truck... | |
