New from ASR SFE and BATA:Feds and Klingons

Well I was asked to create a heavy cruiser that was more science oriented and based on ASR's FEARLESS-class hull form. This project was to update the aging AMBASSADOR-class USS AKAGI with a new look and new ship.

The result is the new YUSARAGI-class heavy cruiser. More general purpose or science purposed ship, but carrying some of the same lines and design as the enhanced heavy cruiser FEARLESS. (FEARLESS-class is attached for comparison)

This is version 2 and like it's FEARLESS cousin it to has the gravity-planing sub-light drive system rather than the ion reaction engines (impulse). The gravity well that is projected in front of the ship is part of the Dimensional-warp node system (D-warp allows for faster speeds and shorter times by traveling in the higher bans of sub-space...:P).

Also newly developed is the new VENTURE-class general purpose frigate, which debuted in the CD5 PHOENIX thread but will be developed out here. I'm hoping to replace ASR's aging CHARON (the INTERPID), the NIGHTENGALE, and PATHFINDER-classes with this new GP-FF.

Finally...a new Klingon heavy cruiser for ASR. The thlaw'baS-class or IRON FIST will hopfully replace the aging VORCHA heavy cruiser and possiblly with a little more beefing up, the N'GVAR battlecruiser.

C&C are always welcome...enjoy.

nice drawings. I like the klingon ship the most.

2d art is treated as a bastard child in 3D forums.
There are cultures on this planet that are just plain not ready for advanced technologies like explosives and automatic guns

Not to be a pain... But one thing Id like to see is a little more varience in your nacel designs. Not just in these, but across the board. Evverything else you mix up extreamly well

Starting to see it in the Yasuragi and what you did for Phoenix...more!!! (please)

Any other views of them? They are awesome.
Any ships you made that have pods?

CD5-- I'm working on different nacelle designs...one of the reason for the REGENCY going back to mock-up and the VENTURE becoming a full blow design project. The nacelle design from the COVENTRY/KRONSHTADT planform worked well for those two classes, but it is time to alter the design for the larger ship classes. I'm looking for a cleaner design for the REGENCY and a smaller, more rugged design for the VENTURE. I will probably be posting them here. As for the Klingon design, I'm going have to revamp that one was well...though I'm happy with how it turned out, it's not long enough...I'm wanting more of a forward look to it. But you are right, time to change up the nacelle design somewhat for the different classes.

Tovette and B.J.--Thanks...It's been awhile for the of Forces in ASR's universe...redid the Romulan Fleet roughly three or four years ago for ASR (see the Gallery for those). You will be seeing more of the Klingons soon...including a replacment for the rather old BIRD OF PREY hull. I realize that there is nothing more Klingon than the B'REL/Q'VORT type hulls(despite the fact that the BoP is actually a Romulan design)...and I promise that just as the boom and pod look of the old K'TINGA D-7 series is mirrored in this new cruiser, the newer destroyer/frigate/scout hull will carry the same lines of the BoP...just 50 years updated.

Dark Angel-- The REGENCY will have a pod...a command and control section for flight operations and advanced sensors for the carrier. Like the nacelle, recovery bay, and nacelle pontoon are still not fixed, the pod design isn't either. The YASURAGI and the VENTURE will not have pods.

A fat little Scout...hmmm

Well...as promised a new updated version of a BIRD OF PREY type Klingon ship. Tried to steer away from the Romulan overtures of the original, but it would appear that you can't have a BoP without having a little Rommy in it.

The Klingon version also appears to have gained a little weight

Anyway...here is ver 0.1 of the concept for the new scout/frigate/destoryer planform.
