| Personally, I think its likely that battlestars are built with the maneuverability of the old basestars taken into account since the new one wasn't known before the end. They seem much more sluggish than the new models, and there could also be the expectation that fighters would help in that regard as well. I put eight turrets aft on the wing engines just to address the rear defenses. A slight pivot to one side or the other would bring the flank flight pod turrets into arc, and a pitch up or down would clear the dorsal and ventral mounts. I doubt a Basestar could change position to keep in a blind spot faster than the Battlestar could change attitude with its RCS system. |
