About the rendering, donīt get me wrong, but... donīt appears a low orbit flight, since the background donīt give you the depth feeling. The shadow is to much dense too. Appears to be a "mini" nova in a flight next to the floor, not over atmosphere. 
Maybe you must add the horizon to the view, just where the planet silhoutte encounters the space.

yea it does, the next render I do has a much better background, this was just the first thing I saw on my hard drive. I'll also be using more lighting in the next image.
