Sounds good, looking forward to hearing more. I wouldn't mind a "macro-usable" tripod.

Concerning the camera. I agree. I've seen simply amazing pictures by people who own "only" an old Eos 300D + Kit Lens. For most types of fotography it's true that the photographer does the picutres, not the camera.

Some types of photography can't do without a minimum of equipment though. And some need a lot. Bird photography is one of these types, without at least 400mm (and that reasonably fast) you shouldn't even try to start... which is a bit frustrating because the really long lenses are so ridiculously expensive. Then again, if you just want to take pictures of birds, Digiscoping is the way to go, really ...
