Another thing to check if your DSL breaks (and you can't visit SciFi-Meshes)

I'm sure many of us on Scifi-Meshes have had our fair share of DSL internet connection issues - I average about 1 tech support incident per year.

Here's my lesson learned this week. Long story short, the physical phone line in my house (which had been a 972 area code number for the past 5 years) had been physically switched/crossed with someone elses 214 area code number (by mistake).

I wasted a lot of time with the DSL Tech Support (until they finally asked me if they could call me later at the 214 number that was recorded by their caller id) when I could have been dealing with the actual phone company repair people.

Hopefully this little nugget will help someone down the road so you don't spend an endless amount of time navigating a phone tree and waiting on hold for a department that won't actually be able to help you (also is it too much to ask to talk to a real live person right off the bat?!).
