| It is at the end of the Galaxy-class era. Just before the Sovie, Norway, or the Steamrunner. I imagine that the vessel was being developed opposite to the Defiant class. The vessel was made to defend the Federation from the Borg. The origins for the design comes after the battle at Wolf 359. Damaged and destroyed ship components were used to build the vessel. The Akula, NX, and Norway (plans) classes were used to configure the vessel.
During the Dominion war The Balao Class served as a recon and attack ship. Most notable ship was the Stingray.
