Also I never like the way the wreckage emerged from the explosion, it just didn't seem to match at all. | |

hmm you made a destroyed model of the enterprise...... I like.... nicely done. I agree about the self destruct. When you self-destruct a ship or scuttle if your in ocean the whole point is to discourage people who may want to salvage it and the best way is to have the vessel completly destroyed the best example of utterly destroyed would be what happened to the scimitar in Nemisis. She quite litterly became space dust..

Official/Unofficial backstory is that there are two types of self destruct. One used for deep space that basically releases the antimatter containment and destroys the entire ship, the second is for planetary orbits or where a matter/antimatter explosion would constitute an unnacceptable risk to shipping. Here the ships enternal systems are completely destroyed, making it nothing but a lifeless hulk, and essentially makes it pointless to salvage. Since the Enterprise was orbiting Genesis I assume it used the latter destruct scheme.

It looks pretty neat and quite close to the original as has been said before. Cheers. While the ST selfdestruct had moderate results at best, the worst selfdestruct sequence came from ST: Nemesis. Really, what use is a self-destruct if it gets knocked out by battledamage while much more sensitive systems continue to work? Couldn't they just rig the warp core to blow up or something? It happens all the time when they don't want it, shouldn't be that hard to do a core breach on purpose. *looks at a nearby wrench with a frightening expression.* Or at least, I think there was a scene with Picard ordering a selfdestruct either before or after the ram. It's been a while since I saw it. All salute the original E. Never again was there a ship like you.

I'd love to see some wireframes of this, particularly the battle damage.
