| you could really improve how you're using them, the way the lighting is falling on the filled sections just looks odd. Basically the shapes on the filled side of the ships (particularly the mover) just don't seem to be occluded on the filled side giving it a very CG look. key is good, skylight is a good choice... but for this i'd ditch the traditional couple of fills (or change their positions a lot) and then setup a ground plane (which is invisible to the camera) turn on the bounced light so your key is actually reflected back up onto the ships like it really would be from the planet (make the ground plane fairly large!) or you could make a light dome which is flipped upside down and made of earthlike coloured lights to provide that soft bounced back lighting. |

Both those ships are quite slow to render, and its always going to be hard to light a ship thats both dark and light at the same time. Andrew, textures on the CM are temporary at this stage, although I did think the containers were more or less done, and I just needed to work on the ship itself. | |
