"Tacitcal withdrawal"

I'm currently trying to wrap my head around kerkytheia(or however you spell it) and I thought I'd take a break to try this again.

This didn't turn out quite as well as I'd hoped. It was good, and then I made a change that messed it up, and I can't remember what change it was. I may do a version 2. It would be bigger but I couldn't upload it.

Looks Nice , a higher Resolution-Render would improve this a Lot!

Due to my less than perfect PC rendering in high quality doesn't work(it always hangs) so I finally settled for getting a screenshot.

I think you just like to use the blur controls in photoshop too much

J/K

its good, but as mentioned, a little too small.

What render settings did you use?

I didn't. As I said rendering is currently waaaaay too much hassel for what was really a "hmmmm, I wonder if this idea works" whilst I was supposed to be making an exploded image of a display case for my DT project.

And the image was quite a bit larger with the Haven more in the middle but the beams got messed up as they shrunk os I had to crop it.

Well my PC either renders quickly or not at all(I read somewhere about increasing the virtual memory but I don't know how to do that)

And that would definitely be useful.

Alright... well here goes..

from a new scene, go to 'settings>sun and sky...' run through the wizard and leave the sky black. (try playing with the time)

then under 'Render>setup..." click on the Global Illumination tab at the top.

At the top beside 'method' change the setting to 'Photon Mapping + Final Gathering (SW)' and then 'ok'.

The neat thing about this set up is that light will act like real light, and bounce off of things. So if you want to do a bottom angle, place a sphere or something below the view of the camera, and light will bounce off of it, and illuminate the bottom of the ship. (does a nice effect IMO)

Oh, and when you render (using the button near the top left of the screen) choose your resolution, and put the 'setting' to '06. PhotonMap - Medium + AA 0.3'

those are the settings I use, the render time is usually decent (less then 5 minutes) as long as I don't use self-illuminating materials.

Hope that helps bro
