| Serenity-Ascent Serenity_small.jpg Been working on this for 3 weeks or so. Mainly following Sean Kennedy's Serenity tutorial and also the Quantum Mechanix Serenity Blueprints. It's not actually finished, there's a lot of texturing to do and some stuff I didn't get around to modeling--plus rigging. But I was working to get an image to submit for a student art gallery. |

| Good stuff, but it would look even better with some motion blur on the Serenity |

| SFM Guru | Fantastic level of detail. My favourite part is the front section of the engines with the rivets.. looks very realistic. I agree with Meph about giving it motion blur, but only a tiny little bit, just to give a hint that the camera was 'surprised' by Serenity flying past, or that it couldn't keep up. It's those sorts of naturalistic touches that the effects in the show tend to have which add to the realism. Having said that, it's a pleasure to look at all the detail in crystal clarity. |

| I made the image to be submitted to a student art exhibit so I wanted to make sure it was visible rather than looking like it was a still frame from video. I plan to tryout some video integration and see how realistic I can get it. |

| Official Aceminion | I see beveled edges... also, I think the flatness has more to do with the lighting. You can throw as much spec on as you want, but if the light is coming from behind the camera, you won't get much shine. Speaking of... the image gives the impression that the ship is very small - I think that's because your shadows are very soft (probably from GI). Larger objects tend to have much sharper shadows. If you're going for realism, keep that in mind. Softer shadows do look pretty if you're just showing off the model, though. |
