I like the lighting! A few quick things - The background is a little soft. Unless it's supposed to be a miniature, you wouldn't see depth of field when the camera is that far back. Also, the floor could probably benefit from a more pronounced texture to break it up, especially when it's in shadow - it just looks like a solid shade of gray.

Very cool though - it's great to see still lifes that people put effort into.

impressive modelling and texturing work

the lighting is pretty good, but doesn't quite seem like the reference image, which is not necesserily a bad thing

Thanks guys.

Pic-A-Card, there are actually pretty well painted textures on the floor, but the bright light washes them out in the sunlight areas, and the shadows shallow them up in the dark areas. Then you just get sick of tweakin' and want to move on.

As to the DOF, matter of my taste. And modo's camera rendered it with an F-stop of 1, and it's pretty accurate to real life, so I'll stick with it.

Berkut, modo has no volumetric lights to achieve that efx I originally liked so much in the original art. I may take it into LightWave at some point and render out some volumetric lighting later, but for now, this is good by me. Itchin' to move on and get back to my TOS Enterprise and other stuff.

Thanks again guys.

I know how it is with the endless tweaking. Actually, you could probably throw a few textures on the image in Photoshop - no need to do more work than you have to!

As for the DOF - well, yes, it's a matter of taste, but it does affect one's sense of scale.

Will we be seeing a high-res, large-scale image for possible desktop use?

Good job, but I agree on the DOF thing, the back wall is way too fuzzy
