Nova Class Battlestar

This was a peice I put together for my good buddy xraider, out of the sheer goodness of my heart. As I'm sure the first comment will be about me now haveing made/making 2 different Battlestar Prometheus... as well as the fact that Prometheus is a freighter in the series. All my battlestars are going in to my fiction comic so chances are I will do a name change and make use of this model myself.

Now there were some areas that wern't represented in the 2D orthos which I had to extrapelate, as well as some aspects that didn't translate nice from 2D to 3D which I had to use my artist discretion. However when you compair to the 2D there is very few deviations from the overall layout. This is still a work in progress, some unwrapping texture and overall detail work to be done but for now Its complete enough to show off.

Not to mention fire off a quick battlescene.

I like it!

It's like a sleeker version of the Pegasus. Very nice.

How big is it supposed to be? Any comparisons with the Galactica and/or Pegasus?

Good job!

Nice Now, apparently the Prometheus has up to 5 squadrons, so less than the Pegasus, and in the Battlestar Prometheus fan fic project, it actually only has 2 squadrons, and yet it's supposed to be bigger and better than a Mercury-class...any thoughts on this?

Oh, and keep up the great work We cant get enough

OH...MY...GODS!!! She's perfect!!! You have no idea how incredibly exciting it is to see this. I'd be jumping up and down with joy right now if I still had both legs!

Length is 2455 meters, and I've attached the size chart I did when I first drew her for Ryan. Originally Ryan was looking for something comparable to a Super Star Destroyer for the BSG universe but once we looked at a couple rough drafts we realized that that was just way too absurdly big, so I scaled her to compare to the Pegasus as the Pegasus compares to the Galactica, roughly twice the volume. As for her name being the same as the freighter in the RTF, there are precedents for civilian and military ships having the same name.

This is the best battlestar fandesign I have seen so far. It has enough in commong with those of the show, but has many unique features. I especially like the engine section, which looks really cool.
That side I however feel that the ship would work better if it were smaller than Pegasus, she looks more sleek and the three engines add to the "small" impression. I'd even assume that she is smaller than Galactica by her looks.

The concept that Ryan wanted was something that looked ultra modern and was sleeker than Pegasus since she's one of the last Battlestar's commissioned before the Cylon attack. I've been a bit concerned about the engine size since I drew her, and increased the engine size earlier this year. Still, she's not nicknamed "The Barge" for nothing!
