Tape-à-l'oeil - a not-so-scifi-short-movie Hey guys, well I thought quite a while before posting it in here because, well it's not really scifi. So feel free to ignore this post if it bothers you. I'm positing it here because I really like this community, and scifi is definitly the genre in which I belong. Anyway, I present you "Tape-à-l'oeil". It is a short movie I created for school. The theme was "Cinema and myself". As it is a Cinema class, everyone else was doing live action, I was the only one tackling the project using Animation. It was quite a ride since I only had about 5 weeks to make a 5minutes short movie. I ended up doing most of the animation in the first 4 weeks and then rendering and doing the final edit in the last week. This is far from being an hardcore modelling and animation exercice, but more an exercice of style. The concept here was more important than the visual quality because the intended public weren't "3d lovers" hehe. So don't expect anything too spectacular 3d wise. Make sure to leave your comments, critics and personal interpretation of the movie, it's always interesting to see what people see in it. I'd also like if you could leave comments, rate it, on the website you see it just to give me an overall idea when I check the video pages! There is two option, Vimeo - Tape-à-l'oeil on Vimeo Youtube - YouTube - Tape-à-l'oeil Movie poster: http://montagestudio.org/Ecks/Lightb...ster_final.png ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, I didn't have time to render in hd. Maybe later this summer. I hope you like it, I'll be waiting for your comments. Thank you. Visit my website: http://www.montagestudio.org

that's excellent, but the camera movements are very jerky, as if the keyframe interpolation was completely linear, which doesn't make much sense to me seeing as the character movement was so good, perhaps that's the style you were going for? the rendering is excellent though, well done

IRML: thanks alot for the comments/critics! Really appreciated! As for the camera mouvement, well the first "part" where the lightbulb is being built, up untill when the music start, was intended to be quite "linear"...altho, as a review of my project, I must say it doesn't come out really well. As for the rest of the short, some shots' camera movement is really bad. If there is 1 excuse I can use, it's probably the fact that everything was done in a hurry so I could finish in time. But eh, that's a lame reason :P Anyway, thanks! This was really the first animation I ever did (altho I do have quite some experience in 3d). It's the first project on which I don't put the majority of time on the modelling. I wanted something minimalist, and wanted to play with the concept instead of the visual quality (mostly a consequence of my lack of time...since with a considerable amount of time, you can play even more with the concept/idea if you push the visual to its limit)I_E_Maverick: Thanks alot Really glad to hear this!L2K : Thanks and yeah, I totally agree with what you say. For my next project I'll have quite a bit more time, so I'll pay more attention to the animation.Animaniac : Thanks

well certainly for the first part of the animation you can read into the camera movement being very robotic like the machinery handling the light bulb, so I don't think it's that bad really
