Sci-fi modelling reel

Hey guys,

well I just uploaded a demoreel I created in the context of my admission at the Nad Center in montréal. A 3d animation school.

It's basicly just a fast edit of some of my best models. Check it out, leave me your comment here or on vimeo.

The music was done by Derek McTavish Mounce.

ps: I was accepted at the NAD center! even received a more than decent scolarship!
ps2: Make sure to visit www.montagestudio.org and go to our gallery to see full render of these shots.

Very nice, your aerial designs are really compelling.

Do it well or not at all.

Wow amazing job !
I really like all of your models. They're very clean and detailed. The renders are also awesome, I can't pick my favourite

Nice work on the vehicles. They look like they are designed for a game engine rather than high poly work, which is cool from my point of view. The "characters" (Spartan in particular) are a bit weak by comparison, but I guess they show that you aren't just a vehicles person

Oh, and congratulations on getting into NAD

nice work.

i do think the spartan needs to have his feet added. even if they're not seen in the final image they should be part of the turntable.

are you rendering the turntables with blender?

Thanks guys for the reply! Really appreciated

gonk droid: yeah, you're right about the feet. Definitly should add them..I had some, but they looked awful, and back when I made the demoreel, I didn't really have time to start bothering with my older models, so I let it like that. But you're right..he should have feet :P And yes, everything is rendered in Blender. WHy are you asking? Do they look "blender made"? Or do you happen to know i'm using blender?

spudmonkey: Well except maybe the "x-racer" which could be quite low poly if it wasn't of the subsurfurface modifier, and maybe the spartan with some work, I don't see how the other models could be low poly, but hey! Thank you

The wireframes looked low poly, but I guess that wasn't the case for the final renders! My bad

Hehe yeah, the wireframes are the mesh before subdivision surface was applied.

Make it easier to see the "modelled" polygones imho. Instead of the fancy smooth thousands and thousands of little polygones generated from the modifier.
