Cool Fire and Water

Something simple. Messing with a few procedurals I was able to develop some interesting looking planets without the use of textures.

The nebula and stars were also developed procedurally on an inside-out sphere and then rendered separately with a spherical camera. That image was then inserted as an environment image in the final render. The entire scene consists of 7 spheres and one light.

Sphere model built in Wings3D. (because the ones that come with Kerky are too low poly) Rendered in Kerkythea 2008. I hope to use this technique for future scenes with ships and things. Thoughts, comments, likes and dislikes are welcomed. Enjoy.

I need to learn to do this in Max or Lightave. I'm not having the best of luck with my planet in Max with textures.

I am sure they are capable of handling the task, but you need to find a member who knows those programs and can help you in your quest. I could try posting some screen grabs of the way these materials are configured, but I doubt you'd get much out of it.
