nice work . . . welcome to the forum.
Very good composition . . . Kinda hard to tell were Vue ends and LW begins . . . The vines on the ship, was that all Vue?

Keeping in mind, of course, that the composition is constrained by the fact it is a book cover. It needs to leave enough free space for the book's title and author.

Consider the possibility that the dead tree required a lot of water and perhaps had a drought whereas the vines, like vines here on Earth, can start in a crack on a brick building and take over the entire facade and they don't get much water at all in those locations and a vine can grow to enormous lengths which is why cities quite often have to remove the vines from buildings to keep the building intact. The sheer weight and invasive root systems can tear a building apart.

While I see exactly what you say I had to stick to the brief, which is obviously the priority for the artist.
But yes, I may have done things a little differently had I been allowed.
