Blog Entries: 2 | No, the perlesicant look of the first film took too long to paint, and was painted over with damage in STII and III, and then entirely STIV. Rumour has it when a different FX group got the model in ST V someone at ILM had done a scortched earth paint job on the ship, meaning they had to start from scratch, then ILM redid it again for STVI. |

| SFM Guru | More like it was too hard to shoot. The pearlescent paint scheme picked up too many rim lights and so forth. I:M felt it was too hard to shoot given the restricted budget in STII. Hence it was repainted in a more conventional manner. |
