Dark Sun - Dead Oceans

Quote:
Athas, world of the Dark Sun. The oceans dried to dust by insanely greedy magic, and a bloated Sun.
Hope is not in heroics, but in finding water, in fending off the scavangers, and avoiding the gaze of the Sorceror-Kings...
made with Mojoworld and lot of post work in PaintShopPro & plugins
Based off the "Las Barancas" world by "Pushin Faders".
Trying to get the gawd awful oppressive heat & dusty feel of the place.

Dark Sun is one of my fave Dungeons & Dragons settings, sort of Conan meets John Carter of Mars meets ecological catastrophy. Really brutal but fun!

Back to art after month or two off (been painting RPG minis too).
Currently in "Dark Sun" mode, but will also do more "Spelljammer"

It should be a very dynamic and vulcanic world with wo moons at this near distance..........even without oceans.

Commandersozo,
well it's a fantasy world (D&D), actually, so we don't need to be too worried on technical details

Moon is oversized it's only half that at most, but I like making it look larger...and you get the "horizon" effect that makes our moon appear larger too, plus heat haze as well in this setting.

And it does have a lot of vulcanism (it's actually quite an "elemental world", except water). Metal is incredibly rare, thus obsidian is one of the favourite materials for tool use.

it doe shave 2 moons but only 1 is viisble in this, the other, as Baxart notes is the massive Sun

Baxart,
ta bud!

I don't know the first thing about D&D but I like this image. If it was red it would look like Vulcan.

He's a high-tech redneck, Mayberry meets Star Trek.

I know it doesn't have to be completely accurate, but the sun appears to be so close to the moon that the moon should be melting! I would move your light way back to give a better look to the moon as it should probably have a very thin crescent light patch which would probably make the scene look a little more dynamic too
