Departure from Planet Earth

Hi, I just finished this image called "Departure from Planet Earth".

I created it with blender and edited it with gimp.

I really like the compostition of the pic, but i have two things to remark:
First, the exhaust flames of the engines look a bit odd in shape imo
and second: According to the direction of the shadows on the ships, the planet seems to be lit by a different sun than the ships.
But aside of that, i like the pic

the ships look light bulb powered. the flame dies out very suddenly. but i suppose the shadows could come from the exhaust light projecting shadows forward (if that is the case i would tone down the lighting a bit to sharpen the shadows and give a greater sense of direction).
earth looks a bit dull tho, there seems to be an almost even cloud cover over the whole planet.
that said i do like the image

Its right that the shadows are wrong, because the planet is an image wich doenst adapt to the lighting (I should have created the planet after I set the Sun direction -.-). And I will have a look at the exhaust flames too.
