[max] light bouncing from invisible objects (final gather)

hey,

I'm trying to put a simple 3dmesh in a 2d picture and have it look like it's not CGI. I was hoping to use mental ray's final gather as one of the techniques to increase realism but that needs other geometry in the scene.

Is it possible to put simpele things like boxes in the scene so mental ray can bounce the light of them, but to not let those boxes show in the final render.
In essence, show the effect but not the geometry.

Thnx

Wouldn't you just go with the Image Based option, like it says here

Turn off "Visible to Camera" and "Cast Shadows" in the general object properties on the object.
