Good 3D beginner programs?

Hi SFM,

I have decided that I want to get into sci-fi meshing and 3D design. I have downloaded Google SketchUp, is this any good for beginners?

Are there any other free programs for download that would be better?

Oh, and any advice for a beginner like me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If your looking to start. I would suggest Blender.

I have NOT personally used Blender (I use 3D Studio Max 2009) however it's free and it has a large following and appears to be a very nice application. You can read about it here:

blender.org - Features

Downloads are here:

blender.org - Get Blender

Thanks Aceman, I'm downloading it now. It looks good.

Are there any beginner tutorials for Blender?

Thanks.

There was a site-purge recently while Aceman was rennovating. Unfortunately, a few of the Faint-Hearted tutorials got caught up in it and were deleted.

I'm in the process of hunting out the missing ones and hope to get them up again in the next few days.

No question is a stupid question if you don't know the answer - If you need help (and you can find us), ask the (Sens)A-Team.
