How To Create a Realtime Sci-Fi 3D Screensaver

Good day, I have a question.

How in the world do you create a real-time 3d screensaver? A screensaver that actually gives your graphics card something to do - instead of twiddling its thumbs

Here are some examples of what I am talking about;

Beam Screensaver - Interactive space battle 3D screensaver by Bravo Interactive (this is a very good example)

Sci Fi Screensavers from ScreenSavers4win ! FREE Downloads

Download - Education - Sci-Fi Future City 3D Screensaver software download

I tried contacting some of the persons who made these screensavers, but to no avail. I did not know that this business was a closely guarded secret.

I also tried using a program called 3D Screen Creator by DevSoft, but that did not work because;
(1) The fact that their website is not in English does not help.
(2) The program is not intuitive, I am a Maya, Vue and Lightwave user, so I like intuitive design in my programs.
(3) The program crashes faster than a drunk driver, all my other 3D programs & games work just fine.

So if there is anyone out there who is willing to shed some light on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
