A contained Sun.

Ok guys, for a tiny project i'm doing for fun (which will remain partially classified for now!) I need a sun.

It needs to look all glowy and stuff without being glowy, there is no need, requirement or desire for flares or other "flames" that stick out as the "sun" is contained!

Any help?

Look glowy without being glowy?
What do you mean by that, and "contained" ?
No Flares?

What is a sun without glow, flares, glares, but a white to yellow circle? :S

Something like that?

More like the top one. Ok heres the spoiler tagline of the "product"

"Flare Fusion Lighters: The Power of the sun in the palm of your hand!"

It's a cigarette lighter, but powered by fusion,... A MINIATURE SUN!

EDIT: as for the glow but not glow I mean I want it to look like its glowing "without" setting up a glow or post effects. (They tend to not work when the glowing object is inside another.)

If you use Mental Ray and 2 fancy shaders, the glow will work through transparent objects.

Here's a nice tut for the surface of the "sun" http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/m...tudio-max.html

and a video tut for the mental ray glow part: http://www.enjoycg.com/mambocms/vide...wing_tubes.wmv

simply put all the fancy noise maps into either of the Glow map's color maps.

Atmospheric light, is what I would use, more fancy, atmosperic photometric light.
