Urgh!, Real schoolboy question here Hi all, I havent played with 3DS MAX, but just getting into it again and i forgot the 2 most important things, that arent covered in tutorials. because everyone should know them, im also checking the help file again. 1. I imported a model, When a new application came up to to assign textures, i got the path wrong and i cant find the right application to re-assign the right texture paths! where do i go? 2. on textures also, is How to make textures appear on the normal view, i can only see wireframe or smooth view (Without textures) i know its just a button somewhere but its all rather irritating! I really thank you for help Joergen!

You do have to use the material editor to apply textures. For simple textures you only have to use a diffuse map (click the little square next to it). To make textures appear in the viewports you have to click "Show map in viewport" button at the top of the map menu in mat. editor. (Little box with blue/white checker). Also viewport must be in shaded mode to see textures, for that you have to click F3 while in the viewport if its showing you a wireframe. F4 is useful too. Textures will be shown a little distorted in viewports, you can improve it a bit by right clicking viewports name and checking "Texture correction".

Are ok cheers for that, I tested on another model and the textures came up fine, but the one im doing (The textures have already been apllied, but the right paths to folders are not, thats the primary thing im looking for...So alas not textures on my current model, I need to apllication to assign the folder with my textures in to the model, they dont need to be re-applied, I dont think i need to "get material" from anywhere, But im not 100% Joergen

When you load a model into max (max native models only) you get a dialog box that say missing image files, you then point max to the folder containing the images, if it's not a max model then you have to re-apply the images (textures) manually.

Well the easiest way would be to put the textures into the folder you wrongfully selected. Sorry kind of a noob solution, but apart from importing the model again I don't know if you can choose the texture folder.
