I suspect that you can perform that graphic effect with the Gimp program, which has the advantage of being free of charge.

I'm just sad that Syd Mead's designs couldn't be seen. They were really nice.

There's also Paint.NET.

No problem. Try GIMP. It's free so the price is just about right.

Tractor Garage

Reguarding the tractor garage... I dont think the tractor would be able to drive up/down the steep-inclined loading ramp. The tractor measured 8-foot 10-inches wide. Too wide for the loading ramp which is about 6-foot wide at it's widest top measure. And the tractor was also over 18-feet long, according to the Cinefantastique magazine article diagrams.

The movie dialog reguarding deploying the tractor is:
Commander Adams: "Bosun, you can assemble the tractor."

In a dis-assembled state, it's parts might occupy the storage room next to the loading ramp. In your Pic4.jpg, it would be the storage room on the right-hand side of the loading ramp, located at about 11:30 on a clock face. This would prevent carrying tractor parts through an additional small corridor door.

Alternatively, it might be possible to create a "Tractor Bay" to house the fully-assembled tractor, in a location outside the perimeter of the Shane Johnson lower-deck rooms. The Bay floor and corresponding exterior ship hull may hydraulically lower vertically to the ground level, as an elevator for the tractor deployment. But this would disreguard the movie dialog. Or at least call for extended inturpretation of it. It is a problem similar to the infamous Lost In Space (TOS) chariot storage and deployment ramp on the Jupiter 2 - never resolved.

Nice work Number 6! The steps and railing look great, as well as the rest of the ship of course.

This is straight off the Shane Johnson Blueprints but I think some changes will need to be made. A garage area for the tractor I think needs to added for one thing.
Ok, you got me

This idea is not bad, the parts of the tractor could be lowered by a kind of antigrav projector, so there would be no need for a ramp or an elevator!

Thanks for the heads up about the Gimp program, I didn't know about that one. I've downloaded and installed it to play around with it.

I hadn't caught that line of dialog about assembling the tractor. That would make sense to have the tractor with a modular construction so that it can be broken down into individual components for storage while in flight.
I think maybe the two store rooms on the left of the cargo ramp can be made into a single large storage room with a large "garage door" on the side facing the ramp would work. That would allow the large components of the tractor to be moved directly out of the storage room and onto the ramp. Then the tractor can be reassembled on the planet. Here's a render of the storage room.
