Oh, the actual nozzles still need to be added. These are just... uh... whatever goes behind the actual thruster. I'm goofing around with different shapes, but it seems that the 4 bells in a cross pattern might be the winner here.

Spry, shut up. I haven't even started detailing yet.

Tovette, congrats for the 100th post.

I love seeing this. It feels more "real" than almost anything else I've ever seen.

Spent a few days coming up with cool engine flares. They all pretty much sucked (not entirely my fault though. My render effects were acting wonky), so I guess I'll do some modeling instead.

[edit]Some of the failed flare fx. I have no idea why Finalflares causes z-depth issues, nor can I fathom why the glow illuminates the invisible bits, seeing as they have a different materialID.

Partially why the engines are glowing so far out is because you're on a grey background; switch to a black one and it wont be as bright.

Assuming you're using particles it's also because of the stray ones that arent quite bright enough to show up on the render but the it still calculates the glow.

No particles here. It's a trail mesh with a couple of gradients blending into a dummy blank material (with MatID 0). Not sure why it's acting that way. I've had glows work fine on partially transparent objects with different MatIDs in the past. May need to go through videopost for that one.

Thanks for the insight though.
