Traveller Merc

OK had an idea of making a pic with a couple mercs and a grav vehicle likr in Traveller. I am trying to keep this so that I can make a larger scene so I am not painting the mercs using procedurals because my last pic could not render because I had oooooh maybe 100 megs or so of image files for the render. So this time I thought what can I make with a little less on the paint and more on the geometry to make a cool scene and came up with my trooper dude here. He is rigged also and waiting for some sort of amrament because right now he is a sitting duck.

I am on vacation now with nowher eto go so I have a lot fo tiem for thsi stuff come march back to work so I can knock out some stuff now.

I am using Wings for just about all of the modeling (all of it so far and PMG Messih to rig and render.)

Ok he has a gun watch out. The concept behind this is a take on the Gauss Rifle with Ram grenade launcher. Basically a magnetic gun that propels small 2mm pellets to high velocity it has 6 barrells. Slung undreneath is the grenade launcher and on the side is the Grenade magazine and behind is the pellet magazine with battery. Basically there is a battery with enough charge for the pellets in the magazine you then refill the pellets and recharge the battery. A variable attitude scope you can sight from the hip or from the shoulder. Another reason for the 6 barrells is a 6 round synchronised bust which it propels 6 of the tiny rounds at once so you have 6 rounds 1 impact.

The gun looks very organic and the armor looks also very good...

Well now he has a gun and a partner so far so good. Will give them some armor support. I have a grav tank and maybe an APC comming. Sorry about the missign tag there. Yeah it doe slook organic I was going originally for a hard edged look but then it would look to much like present day guns. Thsi is a HDRI map that you can get for free over at polyloop if you are a member not bad works better than most.

Just the modeling rendering PMG messiah. Also cheat using messiah a bit because I can smooth there. But messiah has no modeling. Wings is a good modeler so don't sell it short. Really good at character stuff. Ozylot also uses wings and he does some great stuff with it too.

OK I thought well I need an adversary for these dudes. I then thought well I could make different dudes or...... Well the bug is my solution had some fun cooking up some gross shaders for him too.

I came up with a new solution. Right now it was looking like I had a dope sheet that would make me a dope. I am posing the troops etc. and then exporting them then reimporting them without bones. They are posed but no bones. Figure 60 bones a figure and 10 figures it would be a wonder if you can find anything. I need to find soldier nuber fours thumb AAAAHHHH! so this will be a way to make the dope sheet resonable leaving 2 or three figures with bones in the scene. The rest will be statues.
