Ahh, Frigate!

As I continue to build my fleet, I started on the Defender Class Frigate Chassis.

The Defender Class Frigates are all built off a common chassis frame, it saves costs and allows production to go faster.

Max

Attachment 27522
Ion Cannon Frigate
The Ion Cannon Frigate is a medium weight particle accelerator attached to pair of engines. The accelerator takes up the entire forward third of this small ship but puts out a surprising amount of energy for its size. Even in medium numbers, a group of Ion Cannon Frigates can be devastating to an enemy fleet.

Attachment 27525Attachment 27526
Torpedo Frigate
The Heavy Torpedo Frigate is simply a frigate chassis with a dual tube torpedo launcher in its bow. It serves as additional heavy firepower for any fleet or for heavy defense against enemy attacks. It sports two twin laser turrets for minimal defense.

Attachment 27523Attachment 27524
Tactical Assault Frigate
The Tactical Assault Frigate is the heaviest frigate in the class and yet it is the least armed. It sports only two (2) single barrel disruptor turrets. Its main ‘weapon system’ lies in the tactical module that makes up its bow. Using its disruptors, it disrupts an enemy vessels shield grid in a localized area to allow the frigate to get close to the hull. Once through the shields, it rams 4 opening spikes through the hull plating and anchors itself to the enemy hull. Using a special laser cutting system, it then opens a section of the enemy vessels hull and disgorges a company of high specialized, heavy armed marines to take over the ship.

More on the next Post... Damned 5 Image Limit.

More Frigates!

The last Frigate in the line is:

Anti-Fighter Frigate
The Anti-Fighter Frigate is a heavily armed escort ship who’s primary purpose is to defend larger capital ships against enemy fighters and missiles. It is armed with six (6) dual rail gun turrets, two (2) twin anti-air missile pod turrets, and one (1) twin barrel medium laser turret on its nose.
Attachment 27527Attachment 27528Attachment 27529

The last image is a close up of the Dual Railgun Turret found on both the Anti-Fighter Frigate and the Ion Cannon Frigate.

These models are still pretty basic and the Tactical Frigate is barely touched, until I get some other ships done and zero in their sizes.

C&C welcome as always.

Yes, in general, they are based off of homeworld, as those Frigate Types are just too cool not to have.
