Although I've used 3D programs for over a decade, I've never been able to achieve the level of quality that I see here on a regular basis. So, in an effort to work on my skills and play in my unique universe, something that has been around since 1997, I'm going to try and force myself to update the ship that is my trademark for the game. I've provide two previous images of what I did years ago. I even did a fly-by video which was my first serious animation of any sort. Unfortunately, Strata had a bad issue with it's starfield plugin and it did strange things in animation. I'm hoping it's been fixed, but I haven't tested it yet. I have three samples of the newest concept for the ship. I'm hoping to make it much more realistic and something representative of the vision we had for the ship. While my first attempt worked for the most part, we all had issues with the design. Most of the was due to my limitations as a 3D artist, but also as a ship concept artist as well. I hope I've progressed in both areas, but we'll soon see. I'll try and show an AV fighter (assault vessel) for scale purposes, but it won't be a finished model, just a scale sample. My goal is to try and create a space fighter carrier, which in our game/universe were called AVs (assault vessel). The game was only a text based chat game, so graphics weren't required for the game, but it helped to visualize it, so we provided them on our website. The game is not defunct now that graphical MMORPGs have taken over, but the universe is still a fun one and I like to try and keep it alive through graphics and prose. Any comments would be very helpful. Since my skills are very raw, my main hope is to actually complete the project and be happy with the end result. Speed and time are not a factor here, just perserverance and persistance. ::crosses his fingers:: |

Sometimes clients allow me some more freedom with their projects, but most are very controlling. Here's a sample of what I'm talking about. This is a Photoshop composite piece. I rendered the soldier from Poser, using the Major Cache model from Daz3D. The rest is from Strata or items directly from Photoshop, like the text. I've been working on a lot of the logos for the various governments recently. I hope to get some ship work done over the weekend. |
