well I for one love all your designs freekzilla, your argument about the designers most likely being the same also makes sense. I studied economics for 2 years, governments certainly generally have the resources to take advantage of economies of scale

Here is a little ship I have been working on the last few days. I just couldn't get the idea out of my head, so I had to put something out. It's a small Assault/Patrol ship. I took elements of the AC-130 gunship conversion of the cargo C-130 as one design influence. Then I tossed in some WW2 era PT boat influences and some Vietnam era Huey aspects for good measure. It's in the same vein as an Al'Kesh and Puddle Jumpers in some aspects.

It is/has:

30 meters long
8 meters wide
6.5 meters tall

2 decks
crew of 12
4 dual barrel Lite PPC (Plasma Pulse Cannons) 2 dorsal, 2 ventral

Short range Hyperspace drive (the Interstellar kind)
4 Inertial Wave generators working in offset angles for sublight propulsion and axial control.

Asgard sensors.
Asgard Shields.
Cloaking generator.

NO Asgard beaming tech. No secondary craft. No missles.

Upper deck forward section is the bridge. Upper deck rear is engineering. Lower deck forward is support systems and a small galley and lavatory. Lower deck to the rear is a open compartment for mission use.

This ship is just small enough to fit inside a Daedalus class hangar bay and through it's hangar doors. The lower rear compartment can be used for transporting troops for ground assaults, small amounts of cargo, or can be converted to living space for the crew if a longer mission is required.

This is quite a versatile little ship. It can serve to land troops covertly or into "hot" zones under fire, transport a lite cargo load or as a med-evac. But is can also serve as a patrol ship. The 4 PPC are potent enough to tackle all known small craft like Death Gliders and Wraith Darts. But it can also do "hit and run" attacks on much larger ships. It's not a pretty ship, nor is it desgined that way. It's just a very practical and versatile platform.

I know my work isn't as visually spectacular as others, but I do try my best. I also try to have some logic and practicality in my designs. To me, it just makes sense that each of my designs would have some similarities because according to my logic, the people designing and building the ships would be the same, generally. It also makes sense to me because of the economies of scale concept. Yes I know, I am a nerd. LOL!

Comments, criticisms, suggestions?
A plain jane type of ship is the more realistic, and I like the utilitarian nature of it. But it has more of a Ancients look to it than Earthers. Notice the earthers haven't really incorporated technology from any of its prior encounters. I would have preferred that they had, but the writers think they know better. And they are the ones getting paid for it....

Why thank you guys. I try to do something a little different.

Don't you guys think it would be only natural that they would make a ship like this? Maybe not looking like this, but of this type atleast. I would have expected something like this long before we got to something the size of the Prometheus and Daedalus. It would seem logical that something this size would be more easily produced. We know they can make a ship this size with the capabilites I stated because they managed to fit a hyperspace window generator in an F-302. Granted it didn't work right, but they were very close. So something like this should be a bit easier than a Promy or Daedalus, cheaper too. And if you ask me, they seem to need a ship like this more frequently than a Daedalus class. But that's just the way my logic works. Who knows if it really makes sense to anyone else.

Did more work today on my X-303 mesh. With diston's hull texture this baby is starting to come together. As from the show they dident add that many greebles until the final episode they took the cheap way and obviosly used a 2D texture for 50% of the ship.

Advice to anyone making an X-303. Dont referance other peoples work. Use screencaps from the show which can be found here. Theres nothing wrong with referancing other peoples work. Its just if you build something off of someone elses model your model will be far away from accurate to the real thing. I have been using ONLY these screencaptures.

The X-303's deployment bay as seen in "Promethues Unbound" and "Unnatrual Selection"

I will add cargo crates pipes and more detail to it soon.

mighty fine model, only nitpick though, have you modelled the bridge extension on the face?, or is that just the texture?, looks a little flat to me!!
