To be able to say how you can make your build better, i first need to know what you are using for the build?
Is it card, or sheet styrene?

Well that's okay.
What i would do if i were you is do a dry fit of the parts before glueing them together. Also, don't open the filler till you are nearly done.
The filler is only to fill holes, not to be trowelled on(This is merely an observation).
If you look at this ships in this image:

I haven't used ANY filler on these ones yet...
I have found that if the pieces fit with a good enough tolerance, the best filler is to paint on some styrene cement over the join after it has cured. It melts the join together even more, and then afterwards, you sand the result for a good join.

man is the Prometheus is punie compared to the daedalus and my tip to bar if you are going to keep making newer ships each time make them maybe a bit smoother and slicker to make them look newer ans more advanced but thats my opinion noy yours and btw i talked to john and he says he doesent know nothig and he doesent evan have the master or somthing and i wouldent blame you for only making tau'ri design because they look easier to me but maybe not the case for you

Thanks to Scootes and Choo1701 for the help the Severus CFS-311 so far.

wel that filler is there because it was my first attempt at a daedalus. I am just modifying the original model as it wasn't particularly good and I wanted to try out the concept of a big warship

One problem I have is my ruler is too slipery, it moves when I try to cut the styrene. I can manage for short bits but for larger pieces of styrene I can't get a bloody straight bit

What ship were you asking about?
When i mentioned talking to John, i was speaking about the "Hermes".
He doesn't have any of the other items yet...

I see...
My ruler is a steel rule, and it has a cork underside.
If you cannot get one like that, put a strip of sellotape alone the "back" edge of your ruler, to hold it down when you have it in place.
You don't need to cut all the way through the styrene with the first pass.
Have you ever heard of scribe and pop?
