| SFM Guru | I'm sorry for going off-topic here, but i have the answer to an oft-argued subject at last! I was talking to Bruce Woloshyn last week, and he confirmed that the Daedalus does land ON THE WATER in the Siege Pt III!!! He said the idea that's floating around that the Daedalus lands on the city itself is crazy, as the weight of the Daedalus would tip the city over. He also confirmed that Rainmaker built a new super-detailed, mega-high-res Pier Mesh specifically for the shot. He told me it is one of his favorite shots in the show because of the immense amount of details shown on the underside of the Daedalus model. Anyway. Back on topic. Bar. |

| SFM Guru | He said he cannot state the size of their assets from the show(In case a subsequent episode might need the ship to be bigger). He did say that i was in the right ballpark with my build. 580m is the length i had. Bar. |

| How can the Daedalus be that heavy?! O.o So I'll assume it lands in one of the piers that have the drone launchers? And why can't they keep the ship the same size throughout the show? |

And the reason the Daedalus would be heavy enough to tip the city? Lets just compare it to a Nimitz class Aircraft carrier. That vessel is just over half the length of the Daedalus. If we assume that(Taking into account the hangars), that the Daedalus has about four times the overall mass and weight, then the Daedalus could weight up to 400,000 tons. If there is extensive amounts of Naquidah in the construction, that figure is not unreasonable. That's VERY heavy... And what do you mean by being the same size throughout the show? I don't thnk they EVER mentioned a size for the Daedalus... Bar. | |

| Well that makes me happy bar. I have always wondered how a 580m ship could physically land on a city that's only 4km in diameter. though i do hope the "new highly detailed" mesh is actually of the city and doens't give us a "third" atlantis design. |

| SFM Guru | No. The detailed pier was just part of the mesh, but mega detailed, to withstand the up-close scrutiny it would attract. Bar. |

| Hi guys ![]() I was checking the internet the other days looking for some wallpapers with the daedalus and I ended up on this forum. I saw the invitation("calling all stargate fans") to this huge! topic and i said i should browse it a "little" to see what's going on ..... it took me 2 days to go thru all 450 pages Your works (wich I might say they are great) inspired me to model my own Daedalus so now here I am. I gotta say this is my first model of a spaceship, although I'm a huge sci-fi fan, anyway here are some pics:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The ship is named "Marauder" and is commanded by a rogue captain; it represents the new "HAR Daedalus" (Hit And Run) ship class. It has superior firepower than the other daedalus ships and it has some scars from the battles it has waged thru the years. |
