BTW, Bar, I'm liking the stargate model in the background of your image .
Looking very nice mate as for refs have you looked at the abydos gate site lots of alkesh pic's there and some close ups too.

Raffs, have you thought about that little fighter/jumper type thing at all? I was just wondering because I haven't been around much for a while.

Also, has anyone checked out some of my pix I posted in my albums on Flipdrive? Just wondering as to what people think.

Hi Mate
I asume you mean this.
no i havent done anything to it as i need to get my Firefly WIP back up and running as it's kind of stalled a bit and the next stargate project planned is a very very high poly Deadalus class i did get permision to detail up casperheads but i changed my mind and decided to do my own.

As for your pic's i've had a look you've got some nice landscape pics there but the stargate WIP pictures are way to dark to see a great deal.

I'd study the mechanisms of irises on cameras and microscope - if you want it to open and close. An iris that is only closed should be easy to reproduce.

I think the whole point of the Iris is that it would never really work. My version will be in the closed position. I may need to source somebody to help me out with the shape i need to cut out to make the petal shape in the centre(It would have to be seperate leaves, and a very specific shape), but if it's too dificult, i'll leave it to the buyer to make their own Iris...
